#31: The Penn Jillette Radio Show (2006-Q1)

Download .MP3

(430 mins | 56 kbp/s | 172MB)

Penn Jillette, the talking half of the Penn & Teller magician duo, launched The Penn
Jillette Show in 2006 under CBS Radio's FREE FM banner (alongside The Adam
Carolla Show). Co-hosting with his friend Michael Goudeau, Jillette advocated the
use of his show as a marketplace for ideas, talking about significant civic and social
issues that few other mainstream radio shows would dare touch. The result was a
funny and informative program, perfectly suited for this era in this ever-changing
world in which we live in.

In this best-of, Jillette and Goudeau overcome technical difficulties (that might
have been brought about by God) before going on to discuss circumcision,
atheism, psychics, free speech, clown sex, palm reading, conspiracy theories, and
Paul McCartney's Live and Let Die. Paul Provenza, James Randi, and Adam Carolla
also make in-studio appearances.

Internet Archive, and find the rebooted show at Penn's
Sunday School!

Penn Jillette

In 1981, Penn Jillette formed the magical duo Penn & Teller with Raymond Teller
(who would go only by 'Teller'). The two eventually became the most recognizable
magical act in the country. He became prominent in film and television with award
winning projects like The Aristocrats and the Showtime series Penn & Teller:
Bullshit!. In 2006 he entered the radio arena with his one-hour talk show, using it
as a platform to discuss topics close to his heart including atheism and
libertarianism.

Michael Goudeau

Michael Goudeau, juggler for the Lance Burton show and ex-circus clown, worked
in tandem with Penn Jillette years before joining him on Penn Radio. After opening
for Penn & Teller for the time, Goudeau collaborated with Jillette on Bullshit!, for
which he earned eight primetime Emmy nominations. Goudeau wrote a cookbook
called Extreme Pancakes\Nh\ch released in 2011 to acclaim.
